Tournament News

TOURNAMENT NEWS

April 26, 2008

The four teams we had in action played some very good volleyball.  Congratulations to the 141s and 151s, each of whom reached the semifinals of their tournaments!

APRIL 19, 2008

Another great weekend for two of our teams playing. The 161s finished 2nd out of 17 teams and lost in the finals in Chattanooga and the 141s played in Atlanta and finished 3rd (they beat the eventual champion in pool play).

APRIL 12, 2008

A good weekend for the two teams playing. The 161s finished 5th in their 16 Power tournament in Bogart, Georgia, and the 131s played in Marietta and finished .500 on the day, just missing the playoffs.

March 29, 2008

It was a very solid weekend for the Southern Fire ladies.

-  The 121s were tournament runner-up

-  The 131s were tournament runner-up

-  The 141s reached their tournament's semifinals

-  The 142s, 151s, and 171s played some very competitive matches.

Congratulations everyone!

March 21-22-23, 2008:  BIG SOUTH

It was an exciting weekend for the Southern Fire teams playing in the Big South Qualifier.

The 121s had some very competitive matches and improved each day.

The 131s finished 5th out of the 12 Southern Region teams competing.

The 141s finished 6th out of 29 Southern Region teams competing.

The 142s finished 19th out of 29 Southern Region teams competing -- and they had two players who had to play in positions they had never before played.

The 151s finished 17th out of the 30 Southern Region teams competing.

The 161s, playing shorthanded all weekend, finished 25th of the 33 Southern Region teams competing.

Well done all of you!

March 15-16, 2008

Wow.

We will all remember playing volleyball during "Tornado Weekend" in Atlanta.  Matches delayed for tornado warnings, the severe weather downtown, etc.  Our Club's thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who suffered loss.

On the court, congratulations to the 142s and the 161s, each of whom finished in second place at the CSA St. Patrick's Day tournament.  The 151's finished tied for third and although the 152's did not break pool, they put up a good fight but just missed out in the end.  The 143's continue to make progress and are learning quickly how to compete with the other teams.

March 8-9, 2008

Our teams played some very competitive matches against strong competition in the Peachtree Classic.  The 161s made it to the Gold Medal round.  A lot of three-game matches for all of our teams that will go our way next time!

February 23 -24, 2008

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 131'S ON THEIR VICTORY THIS WEEKEND IN ATLANTA.  THEY WENT 12 AND 0 ON THE WAY TO THEIR FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP!

Congratulations also to the 141's in their 2nd place showing in Knoxville.

The 152's and 121's were just out of the playoffs with 3rd place finishes in pool play.

The 143's and 171's continue to improve and although they didn't get a lot of wins, they showed some great play.

February 16 & 17, 2008

Congratulations to the 161's for being tournament runner-up this past weekend in Birmingham!  The girls won five straight matches before losing in the finals to a very good team from Birmingham Volleyball Club.

The 151's had a tough weekend in Birmingham, being on the short end of several close games.  They continue to improve, and look for good things from them as the season progresses.
